On 14 December 2010, the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, H.E. Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani, formerly opened the Qatar Financial Centre Civil and Commercial Court, which was established in 2009 as part of a strategy to attract international business and financial services into Qatar. A Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Tribunal had been established in 2005. The Court and Tribunal were modeled on leading international corporate courts and dispute resolution centres.
Institution Quraysh played a pivotal role in the early development of the Court and Tribunal as Special Advisor to the first President of the Court, the Rt Hon The Lord Woolf of Barnes (former Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales), and to the first Chairman of the Tribunal, Sir William Blair.
