SUMMARY

The report outlines the main points discussed at the seven dialogues and majlis sessions that resulted in the dissemination of key reports and proposals from members, including Core Commitments for States on Climate Action, as well as two reports from the Inception Commission;

  1. The Statement of Urgency, declares an international diplomatic emergency and was sent to the United Nations Secretary General
  2. Climate20+ Policy, calls on governments of the G20/OECD states to collaborate and to create pathways, together with the private sector and other willing states, that will accelerate global investments in decarbonization and bring about the transition to a Net-Zero world. This report was sent to the Italian G20 Presidency to support the success of COP26.

The group has also worked with friend institutions and a group of young Scotia Fellows in order to prepare the next generation for the future. In line with this, the group has built  a virtual environment where policy proposals can be shared by young thinkers and built on by global experts.

The Scotia Group’s discussions are now focusing on our transition policy from ‘Scotia to Africa’, with COP27 being hosted by Egypt next year.
