Professor David Mednicoff
David Mednicoff (BA, Princeton; MA, JD, PhD, Harvard) is an iPlatform Academic Fellow. He is also the chair of the Department of Judaic and Near Eastern Studies, and a professor of Middle Eastern Studies and Public Policy, at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.
He is a legal scholar and a political scientist, and his publications and teaching focus on intersections of legal ideas and institutions, politics, and public policy in the Middle East, and especially in the Arab Gulf and in North Africa. He has been a Fulbright Scholar in Morocco and Qatar and has been awarded nearly $1.5 million in research grants on topics related to comparative and international law. He is currently completing a book manuscript on the politics of the rule of law across the Arab world and is beginning a new project on diverse regional legal policy approaches to the global refugee crisis.
