Ian Edge (iQ Fellow for Civil and Commercial Law of the Middle East) is a civil practitioner and specialist in commercial, and private international law. He is an expert on the civil and commercial laws of the Middle East and the Arab World, including the application of Islamic law, with clients including governments, major corporations, and banks. He has served as a draftsman of international contracts and as counsel in international arbitrations.

He is Director of the Centre of Islamic and Middle East Law (CIMEL) at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, and visiting professor at various universities in the US. He has written publications on commercial law with particular reference to Middle East and the Arab World, and Islamic Law. He has a good working knowledge of French, and written Arabic. He received his MA and LLB from the University of Cambridge.
